You do not have to carry this alone

If you are living with the effects of trauma, you already know it is not just a memory. It can show up as a constant sense of unease, difficulty relaxing, a tendency to shut down or overreact, or a feeling that no amount of talking it through seems to help.

Maybe you have tried therapy before and found yourself hesitant to go deeper, worried you would be asked to relive the worst of it in detail before anyone could help you feel better.

I want you to know that is not how I work. You are never required to retell your story in detail to begin healing. We can start exactly where you are.

What trauma therapy actually looks like

Trauma therapy is not one single method. It is an umbrella term for approaches that help you process and heal from overwhelming or distressing experiences, whether that is a single event or something that built up slowly over time.

It does not have to mean sitting across from someone and narrating the worst moments of your life. Good trauma therapy meets you where you are and moves at a pace that feels safe, whether that is talk-based processing, body-based work, or a blend of approaches.

The goal is not to relive the past. It is to help your nervous system and your sense of self find their way back to feeling steady, safe, and whole.

My approach to trauma-informed care

I am a Registered Psychotherapist and a member of the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care, trained in Somatic Experiencing® alongside spiritually integrated psychotherapy.

What that means for you is flexibility. Some clients want to talk things through. Some want to work with what is happening in the body, since trauma often lives in the nervous system as much as in the mind. Some want room to bring their faith, spiritual practice, or sense of the sacred into their healing. Others want none of that, and that is entirely welcome too.

I work with individual adult clients only, so our work together is focused entirely on you, at a pace that respects where you are right now.

A pace that is yours

You never have to retell your story in more detail than feels right. We work with what is happening for you now, not just what happened then.

An approach tailored to you

Depending on what fits best, we may draw on talk-based trauma therapy, Somatic Experiencing, or a spiritually integrated approach, whatever helps you feel safe enough to heal.

Life after trauma therapy

Many people I work with notice changes gradually rather than all at once: fewer moments of feeling hijacked by anxiety or shutdown, more capacity to stay present with people you care about, and a growing sense that you can respond to life rather than just react to it.

Over time, that can look like sleeping more easily, feeling less braced for something to go wrong, and reconnecting with parts of yourself that trauma pushed into the background. You are not aiming to erase what happened. You are working toward carrying it differently, so it no longer runs the show.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. You are never required to relive or retell the details of what happened. We can work with what you are experiencing right now, whether that is anxiety, disconnection, or reactivity, without requiring a full account of the past.

Trauma therapy is a broad term for approaches that help you process and heal from difficult or overwhelming experiences. Somatic Experiencing® is one specific, body-based method I offer within that, focused on your nervous system rather than the story itself. Many clients use a blend of both, depending on what feels right.

Yes, if that is meaningful to you. As someone trained in spiritually integrated psychotherapy, I welcome clients who want to draw on their faith, spiritual practice, or sense of the sacred as part of healing, though it is never required.

It varies from person to person. Some people notice shifts within the first several sessions. Others, especially with more complex or long-standing trauma, need more time. There is no fixed timeline. We go at the pace that is right for you.

No. I work exclusively with individual adult clients. This allows for a focused, one-on-one therapeutic relationship built entirely around your needs.
